Who builds Sowiks

I'm Vasyl. I've spent eleven years inside SaaS companies — seven of them at Logaster, first doing technical SEO and then leading the marketing team, and since 2023 as Product Marketing Manager at MySignature. Screenshots have been in the middle of every one of those jobs: bug reports, competitor teardowns, onboarding docs, handoffs to designers.

Sowiks came out of that. I wanted the shot to open in an editor the instant I took it, and to leave as a link — not as a file I'd rename, drag into Slack and forget about. Nothing on the Mac did that without a subscription attached, so I built it.

  • Product Marketing Manager at MySignature (Solva.io) since 2023 — 30% year-over-year organic traffic growth.
  • Growth Marketing Manager at Awesomic — after four months, 65% of all leads came from channels I built.
  • Team Lead and, before that, SEO Specialist at Logaster for seven years — technical SEO, site structure, link building, E-E-A-T.
  • Shipped side projects that people actually use: BeSaved, Racoon Link Checker, and now Sowiks.
  • Written up on HubSpot, The Next Web, ActiveCampaign, ain.ua, delo.ua and business.diia.
  • Master's in Economics and Entrepreneurship, Bukovinian State University of Finance and Economics.
Made in Ukraine

Written in Chernivtsi.

Sowiks is an independent Ukrainian product — not a white-label, not a rebranded uploader, and not a side bet by a company that does something else. It is designed, coded, supported and marketed from a desk in western Ukraine, and it has been built and shipped through the war.

Independent
Self-funded. No investors, no board, no growth target that has to become a subscription.
Reviewed by Apple
Distributed through the Mac App Store, so every build is notarised before it reaches you.

Support goes to the developer. Usually the same day, in English or Ukrainian.

What Sowiks actually is

A native macOS app that lives in your menu bar. It captures an area, a window or the full screen, opens the shot straight in a built-in editor, and turns it into a shareable link in one click — no round trip through Preview, Photos or a separate uploader.

Capture

Area, window, full screen and scrolling capture, plus screen recording to MP4 or GIF.

Edit

13 annotation tools — arrows, text, blur, step numbers, crop, colour picker — and OCR to pull text out of any image.

Share

Automatic compression, unguessable links, optional password and expiry, and 1 GB of cloud storage on Solo.

Built for designers, marketers, support teams and indie makers — anyone who takes screenshots all day. See how it compares.

How I think about it

Own it, don't rent it

Everything is unlocked for seven days. After that, window capture and the whole editor stay free forever, and Solo is a one-time $19.99 purchase. No monthly bill for a tool you press a shortcut on forty times a day.

Private by default

Your screenshots are yours. Share links are unguessable, you decide when they expire and whether they need a password, and you can delete your account and every file in the cloud from inside the app.

One person, so no runaround

The email you send to support is read by the person who wrote the code. There is no tier-one script and no ticket that gets escalated — a bug report goes straight to the developer who can fix it.

Questions people ask before trusting a small app

Who makes Sowiks?
Sowiks is made by Vasyl Holiney, a product marketer and developer based in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. He designs, builds, ships and supports the app himself — there is no separate team behind it.
Is Sowiks made in Ukraine?
Yes. Sowiks is written in Chernivtsi, in western Ukraine. It is an independent Ukrainian product, not a white-label or a rebrand of another screenshot tool.
Is Sowiks a company or one person?
One person. Sowiks is self-funded and independent — no investors, no board, and no growth target that has to be met by adding a subscription.
Can I trust an indie app with my screenshots?
Screenshots stay on your Mac unless you upload them. When you do, share links are unguessable, can be given an expiry and a password, and you can delete your account and all cloud data from inside the app at any time. Sowiks is distributed through the Mac App Store, so every build is reviewed and notarised by Apple.
What experience is behind the app?
Eleven years in SaaS: seven at Logaster as SEO specialist and then team lead, where organic traffic grew from 300K to 1M sessions a month, then growth marketing at Awesomic and product marketing at MySignature. Sowiks is the fourth product Vasyl has shipped and supported himself.
How do I reach the developer?
Write to the contact form on sowiks.com/contact, or reach Vasyl directly on LinkedIn, X or Telegram — the same person answers all of them.

Try it for seven days.

Everything unlocked, no card and no account. If something is wrong with it, tell me — the contact form reaches the person who can fix it.
