Built-in tool vs. Sowiks
macOS already has a screen recorder — Cmd+Shift+5, or QuickTime Player's New Screen Recording. It's free, it's already installed, and for a quick recording with no audio it's genuinely enough.
Where it runs out: capturing system audio takes digging into an Options menu and only covers the microphone by default, there's no way to record your camera over the screen, nothing lets you annotate while you record, and every file lands in Finder as a video you then have to send some other way.
